Evelyn Sue Norton 1945 — 2024 Evelyn Sue Norton, wife of Tom D. Norton and mother of Sonja S. Norton, passed away on June 8, 2024, surrounded by her family. Evelyn Sue Settle was born April 4, 1945, on a small farm south of Gracemont, Oklahoma, and her childhood experiences there shaped the rest of her life. Most of the neighbors were native Caddo people, and for the rest of her life Sue never forgot the kindnesses they showed to her family and always had an affection and sympathy for Native American peoples. Oklahoma was just emerging from the depression and life on a farm without mechanization was hard! The whole family, including children, had to work in the fields. Richard (Dick) Anthony Eichthaler 1943 — 2024 Richard (Dick) Anthony Eichthaler, 80, of Durango, Colorado, passed away peacefully June 1, 2024. Richard was born September 2, 1943 to Anthony and Margaret (Turcott) Eichthaler in Bridgeport, Nebraska. He was raised on a large ranch at Hudson, CO on the Eastern Slope. Always a hard worker, throughout his life, he ran heavy equipment, ranched, farmed and was also a door greeter for Walmart. He began working at a very young age and in 1968 moved to Durango to work for Burnett (Siecrest) Construction as an Equipment Transport Driver and Heavy Equipment Operator. Essica D. Williams 1941 — 2024 Essica D. Williams, 83, of Bayfield, CO passed away on May 25, 2024 from PSP, a neurodegenerative disease. She was born August 31, 1941 in Sayre, OK. Essica is a beloved Wife, Mother, and Nana. She is survived by her husband Ronald Williams, son David Williams and daughter Amy Williams-Liddell and two grandsons. Essica's educational journey included attending High School in Ulysses, KS, BSE from Emporia Satate Teachers College, MB and Ph.D. from UCCS in Colorado Springs, CO. A Celebration of Life will be held in July.

Linda Gail Peterson 1948 — 2024 Linda Gail Peterson, born January 29th, 1948 in Birmingham, Alabama had a peaceful journey back to the Divine and her mother and sister in heaven on May 2nd, 2024. Linda moved to Durango, Co in 2011 to be near her daughter Nichole Fox and granddaughters Seneca Wilson and Fawn Sagetree. Everett Otto Brandenburg 1929 — 2024 Everett Otto Brandenburg was born on 11/25/1929 and went home to be with our Lord on 4/3/2024. Everett was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado and moved to the Cedar Hill, New Mexico area in May1937. He attended school at Hutchins Grade School and High School in Aztec, New Mexico. Everett joined the Army and served in the Korean Conflict for 2 years. He moved to Ignacio, Colorado in 1959 and purchased a farm there. He met and married Donna Merrill on May 3rd of 1974. Jerry B. McKenzie 1937 — 2024 Jerry McKenzie was born in Durango at the old Mercy Hospital to Alma and Merritt McKenzie on April 14, 1937. He died on March 15, 2024 in Denver at the age of 86. Jerry attended school in Durango and graduated from DHS in 1955. He was awarded the Boettcher Scholarship. Jerry attended Western State College in Gunnison and graduated from Colorado State College in Greeley. After graduating in 1962 from Nashotah House Theological Seminary in Wisconsin, he returned to Colorado and served as an Episcopal priest in a number of churches.
